Profile
History
The housing cooperative VINETA 98 eG was originally formed on May 13, 1998 by 19 founding members. On June 9, 1998, it joined the BBU e.V., the Association of Berlin-Brandenburg Housing Enterprises. After purchasing the buildings, which consist of 327 old and 342 new apartments (the latter constructed in 1980), one of the coorperative's first projects was to give a through overhaul to each housing block, which was undertaken from the end of 1999 and until the end of 2000. VINETA 98's attractive range of modern commodities and comfortable décor makes its apartments a highly sought-after accomodation in the southern part of the borough of Pankow and beyond.
Membership
Membership is acquired by submitting an unconditional declaration of membership pursuant to §15, 15a of the Cooperative Societies Act (Genossenschaftsgesetz) and thereafter, being accepted by the Executive Board. After the Executive Board has made its acceptances, each member is required under the statutes to pay an admission fee of €77.00 as well as to purchase an initial mandatory share of €77.00. Once provided with housing, further mandatory shares are to be purchased according to the statutes. The total number of shares required is dependent upon the size of the apartment: to obtain a three-room apartment of 58m² in the Max-Lingner-Straße, for example, requires the purchase of 40 mandatory shares, i.e. €3,080.
Tax Advantages
The co-operative is represented by its Executive Board. In VINETA 98 the latter consists of three people, all of whom are required by the statutes to be members of the co-operative and indeed are. They are: Ms. Sonja Kundler, Mr Fred Leißling and Mr. Martin Lubinsky. The Executive Board is responsible itself for running the co-operative; it is required to manage it as carefully as a regular and conscientious manager of a co-operative society. The Executive Board is assisted and monitored in its business transactions by the co-operative's Supervisory Board. VINETA 98's Supervisory Board consists of five members who are also members of the co-operative, the majority of whom, like the Executive Board, live in the co-operative society's housing. These are: Ms. Elke Hegel, Ms. Ursula Kretschmar, Ms. Ursula Hensel, Mr. Sven Rudolph and Mr. Klaus-Dieter Hübner
